Who We Are

The founding principals of studio 2G, Heidi Gibson & Laura Gough, began their partnership at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where they both earned their Bachelor of Architecture Degrees in 1994. Together, they cultivated their knowledge of the field working regionally, until they ultimately brought studio 2G into fruition in 2005. Both are licensed architects in the state of California. Passionate advocates for sustainable environments, they both carry their LEED Accredited Professional BD+C and are a part of the Architecture 2030 Commitment. This is a promise to design all new buildings with net-zero energy by 2030.

In recent years, studio 2G has introduced a partnership track program for employees. Ashley Mayou, who joined the firm in 2018, exemplified this track by becoming a junior partner in 2022 after obtaining her California Architecture License.

Operating as a small and agile firm, licensed architects at studio 2G seamlessly assume roles such as Principal Architect, Project Architect, and Project Manager based on project scope and scale. The nimble and experienced staff flexibly undertake responsibilities as Project Managers and Job Captains as needed. The team also comprises Arch Associates with varying levels of experience, contributing to the firm's comprehensive architecture support.
